![]() If the shop refuses to do so, I would be looking for a different place to work. Ii is the responsibility of the employer to provide information access, not yours. How tight do you torque wheel nuts? What is the engineering specification for the oil you are going to put in the car? How do you retract the electric brake caliper on that model to do a brake pad replacement? How tight do you torque those caliper or valve cover bolts? What coolant type does this engine require to avoid gelling or corrosion damage? Was the engine oil type or viscosity changed in a TSB after the car was built to address problems? How do you reset the maintenance reminder message on the dash on that model? Even the easy routine jobs require service information. There is simply no way to repair vehicles profitably and accurately without information. Your employer needs to provide you professional service information.
